Woodstock is pleased to welcome resident public artist Adrian Tans, aka the “Town Smiler”, as its inaugural artist to rekindle the historical gallery space on the second floor of 19 Central Street! Tans’ own “Pop-Up Gallery,” will feature work that spans his 30 year career as well as selected works he has curated by other artists. Join him for the “Pop-Up Gallery” opening reception Friday, February 16th from 5-7pm to celebrate the reimaging of this lovely space as a place for dynamic local art. Tans’ exhibition will be open for a limited time, featuring not only polished works but also paintings and drawings in progress currently on his easel.

By appointment, with walk-ins welcome anytime the light is on in the upstairs window. Look for the Pop-Up Gallery! sign!

Meet the artists

Adrian Tans and Aziza Ali are grateful for an opportunity to show their individual efforts together in the new Pop-Up Gallery!

Artist. Gallery Director
Adrian is an oil painter, book illustrator, snow sculptor, and public chalk artist. He has lived in Woodstock for over 15 years.

Potter
Aziza Mirzan is a ceramicist, working on wheel thrown and hand-built forms. Born in Trinidad, and living in Brooklyn, Aziza makes vessels and dinnerware, with modern, minimal lines, often saturated in color. She seeks to create one of a kind, timeless objects, to be thoughtfully chosen and treasured.
Aziza started working with clay in 2015, and is also the co-founder of music studio, and record label: Selva Recording, in Brooklyn.
